More than 700 flights delayed at DIA amid thunderstorms, FAA ground delays
As of 5:25 p.m. Sunday, 729 flights at Denver International Airport had been delayed and five had been canceled. The FAA ground delay is expected to last through 9 p.m.

Hundreds of flights headed in and out of Denver International Airport on Sunday were delayed amid afternoon thunderstorms and a ground stop issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA first issued a ground delay just before 3 p.m. Sunday for thunderstorms and wind, according to the federal agency. The delay was upgraded to a full ground stop just after 4 p.m. that lasted until 5:15 p.m., when it reverted to a ground delay, officials said.
The Denver ground delay is scheduled through 9 p.m. Sunday, according to the FAA.
As of 5:25 p.m. Sunday, flights were seeing average delays of roughly 57 minutes, according to the FAA. Those delay times were expected to increase, officials said.
At that same time, 729 flights had been delayed and five had been canceled, according to data from flight tracking software FlightAware.
Southwest delayed the most flights on Sunday, 254, and 201 United flights failed to leave the gate on time.
Other DIA delays included 140 SkyWest flights, 50 Frontier flights, 26 American Airlines flights, 19 Delta flights and 11 Key Lime Air flights. More than a dozen other airlines delayed between one and 10 flights.
Southwest and United both canceled two flights at DIA on Sunday, according to FlightAware. Delta canceled one.
