Severe thunderstorms could bring large hail, tornadoes, high winds and lighting to swaths of the Eastern Plains on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for northeast Colorado, including Weld, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties, forecasters said. Storms could bring scattered hail up to 2 inches, winds up to 75 mph and frequent lightning.

A brief tornado is also possible in Yuma County, according to the agency.
