...WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL BRING CRITICAL FIRE DANGER WEDNESDAY TO NORTHERN COLORADO... .Very dry air will be over Colorado the next few days, but especially Wednesday when relative humidities fall into the 5 to 15 percent range. Breezy conditions in some areas will elevate the fire danger. The most significant fire weather will be along the northern Colorado border where winds will be a bit stronger. Critical fire weather conditions are expected in the northernmost mountains around Walden and Rabbit Ears Pass today. The stronger winds spread eastward onto the northern foothills and far northern plains Wednesday. The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 10 AM to 7 PM MDT Wednesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 211 and 217. * TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, until 7 PM MDT this evening. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 10 AM to 7 PM MDT Wednesday. * WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph today and again Wednesday. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent. * IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire.
